Mental health Awareness

This doesn’t affect me why should I care? You may think you’re not being affected by Mental Health Emergencies (MHE), but in reality, you are. A Canadian Addiction for Mental Health (CAMH) statistic states that:

Objective of this course

While taking this course, we will cover mental health illness; we will cover how to safely and competently approach these situations so that you can assist a person experiencing a mental health emergency (MHE). There are many diagnoses in the mental health field. We will be concentrating on the following:

        • Anxiety
        • Depression
        • Substance Abuse
        • Suicide
        • Self-Care

In each chapter, you will have a presentation and an activity that will assist you in providing competent Mental Health First Aid (MHFA). Your takeaway from this course is the skills you learn, access to this site for one-year, your notes, and your personal experiences; each will provide you with the available resources and active listening and safety skills that you will need to help in a Mental Health Emergency (MHE).

Review the course information often and re-enact the role-playing activities that you participated in during the course. Being prepared will allow you to react quickly and competently to a Mental Health Emergency (MHE) and allow you to rely less on your gut instincts or knee jerk reactions. You will also receive a certificate of course completion.

“By the time Canadians reach 40 years of age, 1 in 2 have – have or have had – a mental illness.”
